Unlike the
other vehicles where I avoid chrome, I chose some inexpensive
parts that assemble together to make a slightly understated
presentation of the rear number plate.
While I was at
it, I updated one of my Geocaching Travel Bug tags with a new
1/64 die-cast car to replace the Cherokee that previously
decorated it.
And I applied a
Travel Bug tag to the car for any observant Geocachers out there
who want to "discover" the travel bug...
Update: 3/8/2009
When I took
pictures of the
installation of the rear view camera, I noticed that the
number plate trim was looking pretty bad. It was about a
year and a half old, with two winters behind it.
The chrome was
flaking off and the knock-offs that I had used to decorate the
screws had corroded.
The picture was so
bad I didn't put it on the web site. And it triggered me
to get back to the store and buy a replacement trim part.
While I was there
I bought a new plastic cover for the plate because it was
scratched. And the knock offs were not available so I
bought a simpler chrome cover set for the screws. I put it
together in the parking lot.
The end result
restored the appearance of the back of the car.
