This year I went a little further. The front
of the Jeep had been chipped badly over the last couple years (since
the marginal paint work done after the crash) and it was time to try
to clean it up. Here's what I was dealing with:
Lots of small chips on the grill and fenders.
I used some Duplicolor Black and Clear that I had on hand to touch
up after first spotting each and every chip with some paint to
reduce the depth of the chip and to allow the paint to seep in
behind the chip edges. Then I just masked off the hood, fender
tops and lights, and repainted the damaged areas. The end
result is a slight improvement and should prevent rust, or at least
slow it down.
Next I touched up the top, rack, bumpers and skid
plates with Krylon Fusion Satin Black.
After that we celebrated Tom's birthday!
