Snow...
Mike and I have been trying to get out shooting for a
few weeks. The new-fallen snow gave us a nudge. I threw everything
in the back of the Commander and we met at the local BP Station.
We drove North on 857 and stopped here and there to make
images. The day was cool but not unpleasant. The snow was fresh and
made for some nice images. The first stop was near Oliphant Furnace in
Fairchance. The trees on the ridge were covered with snow and were almost
ghost-like.
This field and the distant vista were challenging.
This field caught my eye for the combination of
harvested hay and snow against the background of the sky and ridge in the
distance.
From there we drove up to Uniontown and got on Route 40
headed east. We stopped at the "Scenic Overlook" and ironically enough
found the view behind us more interesting than the official view.
I put one of my "legacy" lenses on and made this image
of the trees.
Next we drove down into Ohiopyle. Here's a few
images from our walk around town and the State Park.
Next, the drive back home, retracing our steps. I
like patterns of man made with patterns of nature. These were interesting.
One the way out this pastoral scene passed us on the
left. I went back even though the corner was blind, exploited my 4WD and
someone's unplowed driveway to sneak a few frames.
The air was crisp, the wind light, the sun warm and the
opportunity to see and make some images was just right!
