Prologue

It was time again to get a tree for Christmas.  We have been very happy with the trees we've gotten from King Trees in Bruceton so we decided to go there again this year and find another tree.  I checked the Jeep for saw, gloves, and something to tie down the tree with once it was cut.  With all our gear accounted for, we loaded into the Jeep and set out.

Trail

In years past I have taken the road less traveled.  Due to the recent snow and rain, I elected instead to stick to the highway and get there, get the tree, then come home directly.  We didn't need any extra drama!

We reached King Trees and after checking in at the house, drove out to the fields.  The new bridge over I-68 that replaces the tunnel under the highway was complete enough to drive over.

We went directly to the field from which we got our last tree.  There were several candidates to choose from.  I brought the Jeep down to the area near the trees we were looking at.

Once we agreed which tree we wanted to bring home, we had one of the other trees hold the camera to take our picture.

The Family and The Tree

Then while Maria and Tom wandered around Ted and I made short work of cutting down the tree.  Ted pulled it toward him to keep the saw from binding and I cut it off.  It didn't take more than 2 minutes.

Next this tree was to be loaded onto the top of the Jeep.  That was interesting.  But we got it done...  We wanted to take another picture of the four of us, but having been reminded why we were here, none of the other Christmas Trees would cooperate and hold the camera to take our picture.  So we had to take turns taking the pictures of each other with the captured tree.

Fortunately the ground was solid enough to allow us (in 4-LO) to creep back up the hill without leaving tracks and return to the trails leading back to the house.  When we got to the top Maria told me she wanted to get another small tree to put in the family room on a table.  So I stopped and she went out to find the tree she wanted.  Pretty soon she yelled and pointed out her selection...

So I got busy taking this monster down.

It was such a struggle that I had to wield my vanquished adversary!

We tied the little tree to the Jeep, and made sure everything was secure.

Then we drove down to the house and paid for our trees!

Epilogue

It was another great day at King Trees.  We drove home and trimmed the base of the two trees, got them into stands and placed them into the house.  A couple days later it looked like this:

And of course, the small tree...  Maria decided this year she had enough Santa Claus figures to decorate a tree completely with Santa's!
